FAQ (8-08-25)

  1. Question: How many SMS messages can be in one batch? Are there any daily or hourly limits per account or phone number?
Answer: You can send as many SMS messages as you want. We have an internal queue which will then batch up the messages before they are sent to the carriers. Initially, you'll be setup with a 10 SMS message per second limit.

  2. Question: Are there any rate limits for API usage if we send SMS messages one by one? Any other limits we should know about?
Answer: There are no rate limits for sending SMS messages via the API.

  3. Question: If we send a batch of 5,000 SMS messages, how quickly will they be sent?
Answer: Messages begin sending immediately after they're received. In most cases, the majority are sent within seconds to a few minutes. For a campaign of 5,000 messages, these would all go out in approximately 8 minutes. Delivery confirmations will take longer, depending on carriers.

  4. Question: If we send a batch at 7:30 PM and have a cut-off time of 8:00 PM, could some messages be sent after 8:00 PM?
Answer: This depends upon the size of the batch. If you're sending a campaign batch of 10,000 at 7:30 pm, then all of your messages should go out before 8 pm. We also have built in functionality that can be enabled to ensure that messages do not go out prior to 8 am or after 9 pm based upon the area code of the Contact. This can be configured on the Settings\TCPA Compliance tab.
